This clinic is actually merely a doctor's office, run by Ellen Wiebe, one of B.C.'s most outspoken abortionists. Wiebe offers abortions done by "Methotrexate", and has conducted a number of studies and tests into the reliability of this anti-cancer drug. She also is working on a study examining the use of "herbs" in causing an abortion.
RU-486 Issues
Wiebe is also spearheading the push for the french abortion pill, RU-486. In the fall of 2001, another woman died after taking RU-486. She was a Canadian involved in the trials. At this time, we have no way of knowing if the woman was a direct patient of Wiebe.
In an interview for the Catholic register, Wiebe claims that a warning letter from the Searle pharmaceutical company, the company that makes Cytotec, the drug needed for both Methotrexate and RU-486 abortions, was rescinded. This letter was a warning to physicians of the side-effects, including death, that have been associated with the drug if used on pregnany women.
The letter was never rescinded! Wiebe either knew and is lying to her patients, or she does not know which calls into question her expertise on the topic close to her heart - abortion. At any rate, women should be wary of any abortion related treatment performed by Wiebe.
