Kim spoke recently at SFU at the Summer Institute for Trade Union Women on the issue of backlash to women. She received very positive feedback.
Kim received a call from David Flaherty, the Freedom of Information and Privacy Commissioner, asking about her feelings on the effect of the Act. She told him we felt the Act hindered the government rather than making it more accessible. She has another call tomorrow and there will be an inperson meeting in July.
The BC Civil Liberties Union contacted Kim about the 'license plate' issue. They would like to have a statistics audit on the frequency of call ups for Clinic related individuals versus the general population. We are unwilling to ask our clients for their permission. A public call for anyone who has been harassed might be a better approach.
