Dear Dr.
Further to our telephone conversation on February 27th 1989, please find enclosed a prepublication copy of the Manual for the Accreditation of Non-hospital Medical/Surgical Facilities. It is hoped this will assist you in preparing for the accreditation visit, which I anticipate will be arranged in the near future by the Chairman of the Committee.
As I also explained to you. it seems likely, on the basis of the information we already have, that physicians working at the clinic will need to obtain written consents from the Executive Committee under the provisions of Sections 77, 80 (possibly) and 84. If those Sections have not been complied with, accreditation is unlikely to be granted. Therefore. it will be necessary for you to provide the College with full details of the ownership of the facility, its organizational structure, and contractual arrangements or agreements or understandings between the centre and any physicians working for it. In applying for necessary consents the physicians will almost certainly be required to give certain undertakings to the College, the form of those undertakings to be determined on the basis of the aforementioned information. For further clarification, please do not hesitate to telephone or, if you prefer it, arrange an appointment to come in and discuss the matter further.
Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.
Yours sincerely,
T.E. Handley, M.B.. Ch.B.
