Dear Ms. Thompson:
I am writing to thank you and all of the coalition and clinic representatives for attending our meeting on June 17, 1993, in Vancouver. Your participation and that of your colleagues provided me and my staff with a much better appreciation for the issues and experiences you have faced.I understand a meeting has been arranged between yourself, Mr. Murray Rankin, Barrister and Solicitor, and Mr. Rob Botterell, to discuss some of the concerns raised at the June 17th meeting. In addition, I have asked Mr. Ernie Quantz, Assistant Deputy Minister, Criminal Justice Branch, to meet with you as soon as possible to discuss your concerns with respect to prosecution policy and the injunction process.
With respect to contractual arrangements and liability responsibilities concerning the clinics and the Ministry of Health, the appropriate dialogue should be with my colleague, the Honourable Elizabeth Cull, Minister of Health.
Thank you again to all those attending. I hope these first steps will form the basis for an effective communication process.
Yours sincerely,
Colin Gabelmann
Attorney General
